Exterior - Hyundai Elantra Dealership Test Drives

Standard exterior features on the 2018 Hyundai Elantra include projector headlights with daytime running lamps for increased visibility, as well as dual fold-away power side mirrors. Automatic headlight control and side-mirror heating ability appear on the SEL and higher, and starting with the Value Edition, Hyundai replaces the halogen DRLs with LEDs and gives the car a hands-free smart trunk. High-intensity headlights and LED taillights (instead of halogen ones) and turn-signal indicators on the side mirrors are exclusive to the Sport and Limited. Racing-style front grille, front and rear fascias, and sill extensions are exclusive to the Sport, and the Limited is the lone trim with a chrome front grille. Fifteen-inch steel wheels are fitted on the SE. The SEL and Value Edition have 16-inch alloy wheels, the Eco has 15-inch ones, and the Limited has 17-inch ones. With 16-inch alloys, the Sport has the largest wheels.

Mechanical / Powertrain - Elantra Information

The standard engine on the 2018 Elantra is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. As the most fuel-efficient variant, the Eco has a turbocharged 1.4-liter I4 instead; it's the smallest engine on the Elantra, with an output of 128 horsepower and 156 lb-ft of torque. The racing-style Sport uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged I4, which outguns the other two engines with 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. The Eco uses a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the SE and Sport go with a 6-speed manual, and the other three trims have a 6-speed automatic gearbox. All trims have a MacPherson strut front suspension. The Sport is alone with its sport-tuned multi-link rear suspension for a firmer ride; the others go with a couple torsion beam axle design. Four-wheel disc brakes-instead of front disc and rear drum brakes-are standard on all trims but the SE and Eco, with the Sport receiving larger front brake rotors.
