2019 Hyundai Sonata Trim Levels by Longmont CO

2019 Hyundai Sonata Trim Levels

Perhaps due to a 2017 midcycle facelift, the 2019 model year for the Hyundai Sonata is virtually unchanged. As part of the seventh generation of production for the acclaimed midsize four-door sedan, the 2019 Sonata is available in four trim levels: SE, SEL, Sport, and Limited.

Longmont CO - 2019 Hyundai Sonata SE

Hyundai Sonata SE

The SE is the base-level variant of the 2019 Sonata trim levels. Under its hood is a 2.4-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which generates 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. With two rows of premium cloth-trimmed seats, the Sonata can seat up to five people. Passenger volume and cargo volume (i.e., trunk space) are measured at 106.1 cubic feet and 16.3 cubic feet, respectively. The rear seats can be folded down to expand the trunk space into the cabin to fit in more cargo.

Comfort and convenience features on the SE include remote keyless entry, Bluetooth wireless connectivity for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, a six-speaker audio system, AM/FM radio, MP3 playback ability, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for smartphone integration, a USB port and an auxiliary audio jack for connecting portable devices, and a 7-inch color touchscreen. Standard safety features include a rearview camera, vehicle stability assist, traction control, daytime running lamps, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, brake assist, and seven airbags (dual front impact airbags, a driver's knee airbag, dual front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and dual roof-mounted side curtain airbags). For security, the SE combines remote keyless entry with a panic alarm for providing a theft-deterrent system.

The SEL trim level introduces a leather-wrapped and heated steering wheel, front-seat heating capability, and a power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support on the Hyundai Sonata. For comfort and convenience, the Sonata is upgraded at the SEL level with features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, a 4.2-inch color trip computer, proximity key entry (which improves remote keyless entry by locking and unlocking doors without touching the key fob), wireless device charging, push-button engine start (instead of an ignition system that requires an actual key), HD Radio, a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, and a USB charging-only port.

In addition, Hyundai adds three years of a pair of Blue Link telematics suites: Connected Care (which includes features such as automatic collision notification, enhanced roadside assistance, SOS emergency assistance, and vehicle health reporting) and Remote (which includes features such as alarm notification, remote start, stolen vehicle recovery, and remote door lock/unlock. For safety, the halogen bulbs of the daytime running lights are replaced by brighter and longer-lasting LEDs.

Hyundai Sonata Sport

At the Sport trim level, which is the Sonata's racing variant, Hyundai adds a power tilt-and-slide sunroof on the Sonata. In addition, the Sport is the only trim with a chrome-tipped dual exhaust, racing-style chrome rocker panels, and leather-bolstered sports-style seats.

Hyundai Sonata Limited

The Limited is the highest of the Sonata trim levels. It is the only trim with the option of exchanging the base-level 2.4-liter I4 with a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter I4. With the 2.0-liter, the Limited uses the "Limited 2.0T" designation, and it produces 245 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, which is 60 more horsepower and 82 more lb-ft of torque than that of the 2.4-liter. The turbo engine is linked to an 8-speed automatic transmission, rather than the 6-speed one that is linked with the 2.4-liter. Both engines on the Limited comes with auto stop-start capability. This means that the engine automatically stops when the vehicle comes to a complete stop and automatically restarts when you ease off the brake pedal, consequently improving fuel efficiency. Seating accommodation improvements include leather upholstery, front-seat ventilation, a driver-side memory system, and power adjustability on the front passenger seat. Comfort and convenience are enhanced with additions such as smart cruise control, a garage-door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. More specifically, the Limited 2.0T gets leather-bolstered sports-style seats (just like the Sport trim), replaces the tilt-and-slide sunroof of the Sport with a panoramic one, and is unique with an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system, 10-speaker 400-watt audio, and a third three-year Blue Link subscription (i.e., Guidance, which provides Google-powered destination search and send-to-car ability). Safety upgrades include automatic high beam assist, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, dynamic bending light technology on the headlights for more accurate illumination, and rear parking sensors, which are exclusive to the 2.0T.
